What Are Essential Oils?

I’m betting since you clicked on this page that you have probably heard a lot of talk about essential oils lately. If you are wondering what all the fuss is about, let me help you clear the air 🙂

An essential oil is the volatile, aromatic liquid that is inside every plant, shrub, tree, or flower. It is the source of the plant’s energy, life, and healing compounds and is often referred to as the life source or life blood of the plant.  An essential oil can also be 200-10,000x stronger than its herb counterpart because it is extremely concentrated. For example, it takes 5,000 lbs of rose petals to produce 1 kilo of rose oil. So a little goes a long long way.

And while this may seem like a new thing or the current fad,  they actually were man’s first medicine. They were historically possessed by the wealthy, and highly coveted for their health and healing abilities. Most of our modern day pharmaceuticals have been inspired by plants.

Why are they just now getting popular? Because there is a movement towards safer, more natural remedies without the harsh side effects. And while essential oils are very effective and powerful, they do take a bit of education to learn how to use them properly.

But the bottom line is, essential oils are an all natural solution for supporting health and wellness for you and your family. They can be used for everything from supporting your immune system, keeping pests away outdoors (without smelling like animal pee…), help clean your home without harmful chemicals, improve your mood, and so much more!

Know this though: not all oils are the same!
